Honda Malaysia has announced price reductions of up to 52% for replacement hybrid batteries and extended warranty to eight years with unlimited mileage for all hybrid models sold after 1 June 2013. It’s also applying the extended warranty retrospectively to existing hybrid customers who purchased vehicles between January 2011 and May 2013.
The batteries were previously guaranteed for five years.

The unit’s chief Yoichiro Ueno said: “We have learnt that the two main concerns of the customers in accepting the hybrid vehicle are the hybrid battery’s life span and its replacement cost.”
He added that business efficiency improvements, reducing battery costs and the depreciation of the yen against the ringgit had reduced the import cost of hybrid batteries from Japan.
