The sole distributor of Peugeots in Malaysia, Cycle & Carriage Bintang (CCB), is planning to have Peugeots assembled from CKD kits from next year, to take advantage of the lower taxes levied on CKD models under the National Automotive Policy (NAP), according to The Edge Daily.

The newspaper says that CCB’s managing director, Steven Foster, would make a decision this year on whether to set up an assembly plant and where that would be.


CCB sold 704 Peugeot cars in 2005.


CCB is also sole distributor of the Mazda brand in Malaysia. It is in the process of expanding the number of Mazda showrooms from three to seven this year, to help boost sales in view of four model launches this year and the introduction of the BT50 (new B-series) pickup in 2007.
