Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Mahle Electric Drives Bosnia, a subsidiary of the German supplier Mahle, has opened a new EUR20m (US$21.3m) factory in Laktasi, the government of the Serb Republic entity said on Tuesday.

The plant was projected to boost the total employee count from the current 600 to 1,000, the Serb Republic government said in a press release cited by SeeNews.com.

The new factory has 30,908 sq m of interior space and 37,600 sq m of exterior space, according to an earlier statement by local construction company Baupartner which built the factory.

Mahle Electric Drives Bosnia already operates a components factory in Laktasi, according to Mahle’s website.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation, SeeNews.com added.
