Magna International is set to commence production at its two units in the Sanand auto cluster from the second week of December.

ETAuto said the supplier has set up two separate units to manufacture seat systems for Ford India as well as body and chassis parts for other OEMs.

Both units will provide employment for 600 people. Magna also supplies General Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volkswagen and Tata Motors in India and has nine units across the country.

Sanand has seen an influx of auto supplier units to cater to existing and planned auto plants in he Sanand and Becharaji-Mandal regions.

Tata and Ford's plants are already operational, while Maruti Suzuki and Honda Cars have factories in the pipeline.

Earlier this year, Delhi-based JBM Auto commissioned a factory making components for Ford. Nineteen vendors now have moved within the 3km periphery of the plant and many are in the process of setting up supply units. They include Getrag Transmission India, Motherson Systems, Visteon Automotive, Valeo India and Caparo Engineering India.
