Key Safety Systems (KSS) has started a new airbag cushion factory in Kicevo, Macedonia, with the site having completed qualification activities and production shipments beginning.

The new facility specialises in the cutting and sewing of airbag cushions and will expand KSS’ global airbag production capacity.

The new plant is KSS’ first airbag cushion manufacturing plant located in Europe and is expected to employ 1,000 people when fully utilised.

“Successful production and delivery of our first cushions is a great milestone for the KSS Macedonia team and we intend to be a positive contributor to the continued growth of KSS,” said KSS Europe president, Ralph Caspari.

“This investment illustrates KSS’ ongoing commitment to expand our business and serve our worldwide customers with highly effective value chains.”
