South Korea’s LS Cable & System has begun construction of two separate factories in Mexico, one for the production of electric vehicle (EV) battery wiring harnesses and one for bus ducts, according to local reports.
The facilities are being built on a 126,000 sq m plot in an industrial complex in the central Mexican state of Queretaro with a combined floor space of 16,800 sq m.
Mass production was scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, targeting primarily North America.
The first plant would produce EV battery components including wiring harnesses. It will be the company’s second main overseas EV battery components plant after it recently completed a factory in Poland.
The bus ducts plant will supply large scale power distribution systems for installation mainly in North American EV, EV battery and semiconductor factories, as well as in large-scale AI data centres, according to the reports.
