Customers can access account information in their personalised web portal.

Nissan Charge allows owners to search for charging points through a smartphone app for Apple and Android users. Searches can be filtered by Leaf models, charging speed and access methods.

Users can navigate to their selected charging point through the app and use their phone to start and stop their charging sessions remotely at compatible stations. The Nissan Charge app also locates charging points at Nissan dealerships and partners.

“We start by anticipating the needs of drivers,” said Plugsurfing MD and co-founder, Adam Woolway. “Our service is built around making the EV driving experience seamless and affordable. Driving electric should be as easy as driving a petrol car.”

Nissan Charge also gives users the option to provide feedback and ratings for charging stations via the app, helping others to plan their charging route.

“Nissan Charge is the next step in making a hassle-free EV ownership experience even better,” added Head of Electric Vehicles for Nissan Europe, Helen Perry. “By connecting users with the charging network, it gives users all the charging information they need at their fingertips.”

To register, Leaf owners need to download the free app and create an account, which requires the vehicle’s VIN number and a valid payment method. Customers can then use the app or their online user portal to order a free charging key, which gives them an additional point of access to charging points within the network.

The Nissan Charge App is currently available in Germany and Italy.

The service will be progressively introduced in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the UK, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia later in 2019.
