AvtoVAZ’s Lada brand sold 362,356 cars in Russia in 2019 – a gain of 1% on the previous year (and in a market that was down by 2.3%). Lada says its Russia market share in all light vehicles increased from 20.0% to 20.6%.

For the second year in a row, Granta and Vesta were the two leading sales models on the Russian market: Lada Granta with a result of 135,831 cars (+27.8% by 2018) and Lada Vesta at 111,459 units sold.

The Lada Largus VP model also entered the Top 10 of the Russian car market with a result of 43,123 cars sold. In 2019, the Russians purchased 52,397 cars of the Largus family as a whole, including 9,274 commercial vehicles.

Lada’s total LCV sales result was 11,052 units, which is more than 90% of the sub-segment of small light commercial vehicles, it says.

The Top 3 regions with the largest Lada sales in 2019 were Moscow and the Moscow region, Samara region and the Republic of Tatarstan.

Lada also managed exports of around 50,000 units in 2019 – a gain of around a third on 2018’s level. Major export markets were Belarus and Kazakhstan.

”In 2020, Lada aims to maintain its leading position in terms of market share in Russia, including by increasing sales of cars with automatic transmission and integrating the Niva into the Lada model range,” said Olivier Mornet, Lada’s Executive Vice President of sales and marketing. “This year we will continue sustainable development of our dealer network and export markets. Of course, one of the most important tasks was and remains to increase the level of our customers satisfaction. ”

Lada has also announced the start of sales in Russia of its renewed ‘Lada 4×4’ (the Niva name went a few years ago). It says the SUV ‘has become even more comfortable’. The price of the upgraded Lada 4×4 starts from 553,900 rubles, so it remains the ‘most affordable all-wheel drive car on the Russian market’ according to Lada. The entry variant now includes power steering, ABS and daytime running lights.
