The joint venture between Shinsho Corporation’s Kobe Steel and four other companies producing automotive steel wire in Mexico has been opened officially.

The JV, Kobelco CH Wire Mexicana (KCHM), was established in September 2014 by Kobe Steel with Metal One Corporation, Osaka Seiko, Grupo Simec, SAB de CV and O&k American Corporation. It makes and sells steel wire of cold heading (CH) quality.

The supplier’s plant situated is in the Santa Fe Industrial Park in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. It processes steel wire rod into CH wire used to make automotive fasteners and cold-forging products shipped to auto parts makers in Mexico.

KCHM said it was entering a segment “of rising demand” and was able to provide fast delivery of CH wire “of outstanding surface quality”.

“By supplying products highly regarded by customers, we hope to contribute to the development of Silao, Guanajuato and Mexico,” said KCHM’s president Mitsufumi Konishi at the plant opening ceremony.
