More details of Kia's full redesign of the Soul model line have been announced ahead of its global debut the Los Angeles auto show which opens next week.
The model is popular in the US – often found at the 'entry level' end of rental companies' offerings – so launching it first in that market, and in import-friendly Los Angeles at that, makes sense.
Kia said the 2020 version of the crossover offers more technology, a range of advanced driver assistance systems, and increased cargo room.
For the US market, a new variant – the "ruggedly styled" Soul X-Line –will join the LX, EX, S, and GT-Line models, along with a redux of the all-electric Soul EV.
Petrol-powered versions will come with a choice of four-cylinder engines: either a naturally-aspirated two-litre or a turbocharged 1.6.
US Soul sales start in the first half of 2019 with other markets to follow.
