According to Finnish Nokian Tyres’ CEO, Kim Gran, the company is planning to build a plant to manufacture passenger car tyres in Kazakhstan.

Initially, the plant would make at least 4mn tyres a year, a report in Esmerk Finnish News says.

According to information received by the newspaper, the cost estimate of the Kazakhstan plant is about EUR350m.

According to Gran, no detailed agreements have yet been signed. Construction is to begin in 2008, if all agreements can be worked out.
