Kautex Textron has held an opening ceremony for its newest factory in China, in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) in Hubei Province.
The supplier will manufacture automotive plastic fuel tanks at the new facility, using conventional and NGFS technology.
"The light weight and low permeation features of the tank help OEMs to meet the future China VI carbon dioxide emissions requirements," said Jörg Rautenstrauch, Kautex's president & CEO. "We see increasing demand from our customers to implement this technology, and we are delighted to further its use in China.
Kautex closely collaborated with the WEDZ on this green field development project, announced in autumn 2015. The initial factory is 3,800 square metres with the option to expand to 7,500. Trial production began in 2016, with series production scheduled to begin soon.
Founded in 1935, Kautex claims to have pioneered plastics processing and blow moulding technology. Today, the company is a Tier One supplier for numerous automotive OEMs worldwide. It produces fuel, selective catalytic reduction and clear vision systems and camshafts plus industrial packaging.
