Of the tally, sales of minivehicles – with engine displacement of up to 660 cc – are estimated to come to 1,835,000 in the business year to March 31, 2006, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) reportedly said.
JAMA said it expects the market to grow due to the planned introductions of new motor vehicle models on the assumption that personal consumption will increase.
By vehicle type, car sales are expected to rise 1.6% to 4,844,000, and truck sales 3.3% to 1,073,000. Bus sales are projected to gain 5.9% to 18,000, JAMA told Kyodo News.
