Mazda plans to install G-BOOK-compatible terminals in its domestic models beginning in 2005. Kyodo said that the company has failed to lure customers with its own information service, which has attracted only about 1,000 users after it was introduced in July 2000.

The G-BOOK telematics service, launched in October 2002, uses in-vehicle terminals and enables the collection of information, such as road maps and location of places and restaurants, through wireless telecommunications.

The service is featured in more than fifty models with the number of users having topped 40,000.
