Toyota is launching a car-sharing program for residents at three condominiums in Tokyo and Nagoya next year using Prius Plug-in Hybrids and a new electric vehicle currently under development.

The company will allocate two vehicles each to three condos – two in Tokyo and one in Nagoya – allowing residents to book them by mobile phone or personal computer. Fees have yet to be decided.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid is due for launch by early 2012 and the EV is based on the Toyota iQ microcar and will be capable of running 105kms fully charged. This model will also be launched during 2012.
