JAPAN: Toyota to Boost Ordered Production to Some 70 Pct
Toyota Motor Corp. will boost its ratio of ordered production to overall output to around 70 pct by 2005, Vice President Kosuke Ikebuchi said Thursday.
Toyota's current ordered production ratio is around 30 pct, while General Motors Corp. has revealed a plan to raise its corresponding ratio to 80 pct in 2003.
Toyota Motor Corp. will boost its ratio of ordered production to overall output to around 70 pct by 2005, Vice President Kosuke Ikebuchi said Thursday.
Toyota’s current ordered production ratio is around 30 pct, while General Motors Corp. has revealed a plan to raise its corresponding ratio to 80 pct in 2003.
Ikebuchi also said Toyota will improve its speed of production, from development to sales, by combining its production skills with information technology.
