Toyota is planning to launch its ‘Mirai’ Fuel Cell Sedan in Japan from the middle of next month.
The company says that sales will commence on December 15 at Toyota and Toyopet dealerships with a sales target to the end of 2015 of approximately 400 units.

The car will sell for 7.24 million yen (around US$63,000).
Toyota claims that the Mirai signals the “start of a new age of vehicles” using hydrogen as a fuel source.
The Mirai uses the Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS), which features both fuel cell technology and hybrid technology, and includes Toyota’s new FC Stack and high-pressure hydrogen tanks. The TFCS, Toyota says, is more energy efficient than internal combustion engines and emits no CO2 or substances of concern (SOCs) when driven.
Drivers, it is claimed, can also expect the same level of convenience as offered by gasoline engine vehicles, with a cruising range of 650km and a hydrogen refuelling time of about three minutes.
The Mirai will be launched in the US and Europe in summer 2015.
