Toyota Motor sales in Japan so far in May were down roughly a quarter from the same period last year, company president Katsuaki Watanabe has said.

Watanabe also told Reuters at a business lobby gathering that he expected Toyota’s domestic vehicle production to exceed 11,000 units per day in both June and July.
Toyota received more than 80,000 orders for its new Prius hybrid before sales started on 18 May.
