Toyota usually runs its manufacturing lines with one to two hours overtime, the report noted.
Dow Jones said Toyota will decide Monday morning on what to do about production from Tuesday and will manufacture the new Prius at a plant in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, as usual.
According to Dow Jones, the explosion occurred at Nippon Steel Corp.’s Nagoya ironworks in the same prefecture which supplies steel products to 200 to 300 firms, including Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and various electronics makers.
A 50-metre-high tank containing coke gas exploded on Wednesday evening at the ironworks, injuring 15 and triggering a fire that burned overnight, Dow Jones said.
