Hino truck output plunged the most, by 40.2% to 5,167 units, with Toyota down 24.9% to 479,027 and small vehicle specialist Daihatsu dipping just 1.5% to 68,390.
Overseas production by the group was down 24.1% to 242,466 with Japanese output off 21.8% to 310,118.
Sales in Japan were down 12.9% to 119,818 units while exports were off 27.7% to 185,784.
Group production for calendar year 2008 fell 2.9% to 9,225,236 – Toyota built 8,210,818 vehicles (-3.8% due to reduced North American and European output); Daihatsu was up 6.1% to 908,202 and Hino output slipped 0.6% to 106,216.
