The Nikkei business newspaper said the vehicle intially would draw some power from onboard solar cells and could also be recharged with home-generated solar panel electricity. Later models would be completely powered by on-board panels.
Like other global automakers, Toyota is already using solar arrays to provide some power for its facilities.
