Toyota has denied it is considering raising its 8.7% stake in Subaru-maker Fuji Heavy Industries to 17%, as reported this week in The Nikkei business daily.
Dow Jones noted that Toyota is generally cautious about taking over companies – it took 30 years to make small car specialist Daihatsu Motor and truckmaker Hino Motors subsidiaries after initial partnerships.
Toyota also holds a 5.9% stake in truckmaker Isuzu Motors, the news agency noted.
