The report said Toyota is seeking to ramp up production of its Prius model at its Tsutsumi factory in Toyota City from 6,000 units a month to 10,000 though this would be a temporary measure as demand for the car is almost double the company’s initial estimates.
Also citing the Financial Times, Dow Jones said that, while this move would be unprecedented for Toyota, the company is planning long-term use of overnight shifts at its factories in the UK and France, beginning next spring.
