Toyota is considering building its eighth North American factory that will be ready to start production possibly in 2009, Toyota sources told Kyodo News on Friday.

Toyota is now considering plant sites mainly in southern US states like Texas, the sources reportedly said.
It also wants to build a new engine factory in the United States, they told the news agency.
Toyota is planning to begin new production at a series of North American plants in 2006, including another Texas factory and the existing Lafayette, Indiana, plant of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, an arm of Fuji Heavy Industries, in which Toyota has recently obtained a large equity stake.
