Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has appointed Shuhei Toyoda as president and chief
executive officer of Toyota Motor Europe Manufacturing (TMEM) and chairman of
Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK).

Toyoda is on the TMC board of directors in Japan and was previously chief engineer
for the Vitz/Yaris/Echo subcompact range.

Toyoda is no stranger to the UK or Europe as he obtained his doctorate from
Leeds University in northern England and was in charge of purchasing at TMUK
from 1992 to 1996.

Toyoda now takes charge of Toyota’s European manufacturing operations
which include vehicle and engine plants in the UK and France and a planned transmission
plant in Poland.

Toyoda’s predecessor, Toshio Mizushima, will take up a new position with
TMC in Japan.
