Isuzu reported its April-June group net profit rose 27.7% from a year earlier to JPY27.61bn (US$27m), a record high for the quarter thanks to strong sales of pickup trucks in Thailand and the depreciation of the yen which has made exports more competitive.

The company reaffirmed its full-year earnings forecast for the current business year through next March, expecting to post a group net profit of JPY115bn, up 19.1%.

Isuzu said it remained concerned about changes in market conditions in Thailand as demand in the country has been weaker than expected following the termination last year of government subsidies aimed at boosting vehicle purchases.
