Troubled airbag maker Takata has warned that it might not have enough replacement bags for an expanded national recall the US government has ordered.
Nikkei noted that the company has resisted previous calls to expand its recall beyond regions with “high absolute humidity,” where it says the malfunction is most likely to occur.

This week the NHTSA told Takata to recall the bags across the country or face penalties.
Takata will increase production of replacement parts in January at a Mexican plant, but Senior Vice President Hiroshi Shimizu has warned that the company might not be able to keep up, according to the Nikkei news agency.
