Suzuki Motor Corp has recalled close to 130,000 vans and trucks on its domestic market of Japan on fears a rear tyre defect could cause the vehicles to roll over.
Reuters cited the country’s transport ministry as saying that 122,190 Every vans and Carry trucks and 7,576 vans built on an OEM basis for Mazda as the Scrum, were being recalled.
The models affected were built between April 2004 and November 2005 and sold almost exclusively in Japan.
Earlier this month, Suzuki Motor slashed its annual operating profit forecast by a third, following falling global car sales and a strong yen.
Suzuki now expects 2008/9 fiscal year operating profit of JPY67bn (US$750m), down from JPY100bn.
