Subaru maker Fuji Heavy Industries on Wednesday it would increase annual production capacity at its main plant in eastern Japan to 180,000 units from the current 150,000 by summer 2013.

The automaker raised its previous target of 165,000 units by early 2013 at the plant in Ota, Gunma Prefecture, after enjoying brisk sales of vehicles such as the redesigned Impreza in the Japanese, US and other markets, Kyodo News reported.
