Kyodo News said Fuji Heavy and the group have agreed to set up a network of eight showrooms in Mexico City and other Mexican locations, with an annual sales goal of 2,000 units within three years.
During the initial phase of the cooperation, they will sell the Legacy and two other models produced at Fuji Heavy’s US manufacturing arm, Subaru of Indiana Automotive.
Later, they will begin marketing the Impreza and Forester vehicles imported from Fuji’s Japanese factories.
Kyodo News said the company began considering entering the Mexican market in light of the enforcement of a free trade pact between the two countries last April.
