”We’re jointly working with Toyota in the development of various elemental technology” including EVs and hybrids, Mori told Kyodo News.

The automaker is exhibiting the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept at the Tokyo motor show with a powertrain combining both its signature boxer engine and a hybrid system.

Mori had said earlier the company hoped to release a petrol-electric hybrid with the Toyota help but it was unclear whether the 2012 hybrid the company is planning was based on its own or Toyota’s hybrid system.

Fuji Heavy began marketing its Subaru Plug-in Stella electric vehicle in July mainly for corporate customers and local governments.
