Toyota has announced that it has agreed with Fuji Heavy Industries – the company that owns the Subaru brand – to let Subaru vehicles carry its ‘G-Book’ telematics system.

Under a basic agreement between the two carmakers, Toyota’s G-Book information and entertainment system will be loaded into Subaru cars sold in Japan from 2004.

G-Book is linked to the car navigation system and offers a range of interactive services including downloading music, news reports, games and karaoke.

The firms said in a joint statement that details of their alliance, including the name of specific models, conditions and timings would be decided later.
