Honda registrations in the month in Japan were down over 11%, bring year-to-date domestic sales to 284,813 units (-3.8%). This figure includes 108,824 mini-vehicles. Sales of mini-vehicles were up over 4% in May but year-to-date they have declined by 1.3%.
Domestic production in the first five months of the year totaled 526,725 units, down 2.8%.
Overseas production has risen 8.9% in the first five months, to 964,353, bringing the total for worldwide production to 1,491,078 units, up 4.5%. Overseas production was up over 11% in May, thanks to growth in Asia, particularly China, were production has grown over 20%. In China alone production was 129,383 units in the first five months, up 36.5% on a year earlier.
In the US Honda saw production rise by almost 11% in May, giving year-to-date growth of 7.8% (421,946 units produced).
