Toyota Motor Corporation on Friday said vehicle production in Japan from 10 May to 3 June would be at about half the usual rate.
The automaker previously announced half-rate Japanese production from 18 to 27 April and an early ‘Golden Week’ spring break from 28 April through to 9 May.

“TMC will decide on production after this period after assessing the situation of its suppliers and other related companies,” it said in a statement.
“TMC deeply apologises to its customers for not being able to build every vehicle to meet their desired specifications due to limited parts.”
Damage to a factory belonging to Renesas Electronics, which sells about 40% of all automotive microcontrollers globally, has caused a major bottleneck, according to Reuters and the supply does not expect to resumt output at a key factory until July, disrupting car production in the meantime.
Toyota was still having trouble procuring about 150 parts, spokeswoman Shiori Hashimoto told the news agency.
Toyota’s pre-earhquake output was about 12,000-13,000 units a day in Japan so the latest announcement suggests the loss of about another 120,000 units after Golden Week. The company has so far admitted only the loss of 260,000 units to 8 April.
