The first minicar developed by Mitsubishi Motors with Nissan input went on sale in Japan today (6 June). The DAYZ is the result of a two-year cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors and is built by Mitsubishi at its Mizushima plant. Nissan has previously sold rebadged Mitsubishi and Suzuki minicars.
The Mitsubishi version is called the eK Wagon. Both are classified as ‘tall’ wagons, a sector that accounts for 40% of Japan’s minicar segment. They will be followed next year by the DAYZ ROOZ and eK Custom – vehicles classified in Japan as ‘super height’ wagons. For Mitsubishi, the new minicars represent the third generation of the range first launched in October 2001.
