A new sedan by Nissan Motor Corp., dubbed ‘the world’s cleanest gasoline-fuelled car’, will be marketed in Japan on August 30th, reports Associated Press/Kyodo News Service Thursday (27/7/00) citing Nissan’s same-day announcement.

The 1.8 litre ‘Bluebird Sylphy’ model will emit only 0.01 gram hydrocarbon, 0.33 gram carbon monoxide and 0.01 gram nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere for every kilometre travelled, said the company.

The hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emission levels of the four-cylinder passenger car are one-eighth the regulation levels laid out by the Transport Ministry, to come into effect in October 1st this year. Carbon monoxide levels of the sedan are half that required under the Ministry`s 2000 exhaust emission regulations, says the report.
