Nissan
Motor Co said this week that it will expand the use of its ultra-low emission
technology, currently available only in Bluebird Sylphy and Sentra CA sedans,
to cover up to 80 percent of its Japanese market products in just 18 months.

According to Kyoto News, Nissan President Carlos Ghosn said that 11 of the
15 new models the company plans to launch in Japan from now until the end of
the 2002 financial year on March 31, 2003 will be equipped with an engine that
releases only 75% — or lower — of the harmful emission levels allowed
by the Japanese government.
