In a report filed with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Nissan said the minivan in question was manufactured between April 2002 and December 2005 and the car between February 2002 and March 2004, Kyodo News reported.
If drivers apply the brakes of the minivan too often when driving downhill, a component of the brakes may develop cracks and break due to its poorly designed shape, Nissan said.
The automaker received a total of eight claims between November 2004 and April this year from drivers of the minivan complaining that the brakes had started to produce a noise or failed to work properly, it said.
Concerning the March car, Nissan said the vehicle’s taillights may fail to light because of a defective contact point in the switching system.
