The new two-box Delica van fits into the same size class as the current long-serving one-box model and offers class leading load carrying capacity as well as fuel economy that qualifies it for Japanese eco-car tax incentives. MMC has axed the truck variant from the range.

The Delica D:3 is offered in two trims: the G level which accommodates seven passengers in three rows of seats while the M trim level accommodates five passengers in two rows of seats.

The model has a 1.6-litre petrol engine with electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.

Safety features include airbags for driver and front passenger and anti-lock braking with electronically controlled brake force distribution and brake assist.

The van version comes in GX form with four-speed automatic transmission and passenger-focused trim while the DX which comes with either the automatic or a five-speed manual transmission and a more ‘cargo-focused’ specification.
