Production of the Pajero Sport midsize SUV has started at Mitsubishi Motors’ Chinese joint venture GAC Mitsubishi Motors.
A previous generation model was built locally by Beijing Jeep, starting in 2003.
 
After its founding and start of operation in September 2012, GMMC commenced production of the ASX [aka RVR; Outlander Sport].
 
Building more vehicles in emerging markets is a major parts of MMC’s JUMP 2013 mid-term business plan announced in January 2011.
The Pajero Sport is based on the Triton pickup truck platform and also assembled in other countries including Thailand and India.
