Mitsubishi Motors has recalled over 920,000 vehicles worldwide to check for faulty light switches.

The carmaker has recalled 703,888 cars in Japan, including the 2003-2008 eK Wagon and Pajero minicar models, Bloomberg News reported, citing a transportation ministry statement.

The recall is the biggest for MMC since the transport ministry issued a warning in December 2012 saying the automaker was “passive” in handling recalls over engine oil leaks. The automaker recalled 1.76m vehicles.

No accidents were reported related to the light switch defects, according to the transport ministry statement.

The recall also includes some variants of the eK Wagon and eK Custom made on an OEM basis for Nissan Motor.

The two carmakers set up a joint venture last year to develop minicars to compete with Honda and Suzuki in a segment that makes up 40% of Japan’s new car sales.
