Mazda Motor Corp president Mark Fields apologised to shareholders at a meeting
on Tuesday for missing payment of a year-end dividend for fiscal 2000, Kyodo News
reported.

Field reportedly cited the company’s loss for the first time in three years
in the year ended March 31 as the reason for skipping paying the dividend.

During the meeting, which lasted about two hours, shareholders approved the
company’s carrying over to the next term an 11.2 billion yen ($US90.1 million)
loss within the 11.6 billion yen unappropriated loss for fiscal 2000.

They also approved 16 new board members, Kyodo News said.
