Japan’s domestic sales of new cars, trucks and buses rose 8.6 percent in June over the same month last year, rising for the third straight month, JADA (dealers association) said Friday. Sales in June totalled 351,061 vehicles.

Sales of passenger cars rose 8.6 percent to 300,708 units.


Truck sales gained 9 percent to 49,146 units, while sales of buses were down 8.2 percent at 1,207 units.


By brand, Honda Motor Co. posted the biggest percentage growth — 28.1 percent to 46,045 vehicles — on strong sales of its recently launched new models.
