Japan’s big three – Toyota, Nissan and Honda – have reported record high overseas production in October, fuelled by strong demand in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Toyota said overseas production jumped 25.2% in October from the same month last year to 257,491 vehicles, with rises in all regions. Production in Japan, meanwhile, inched up just 0.7% to 337,190.


Toyota said the overseas figures for October was its highest monthly production record, surpassing a previous record set in September, when output totalled 234,015 vehicles.


Nissan Motor Co also reported record high overseas production in October – up 25.7% year-on-year to 156,448 vehicles; it was another monthly record from a previous high in September of 142,917 vehicles.


Nissan enjoyed a huge 71% leap in its US production, hitting a monthly record there of 63,196 vehicles in October.


Among the most popular American-made models were the new Quest minivan, Pathfinder Armada sports utility vehicle and Maxima sedan, the automaker said. Nissan’s domestic production edged up just 0.9 percent to 128,328 vehicles.


Overseas production at Honda Motor Co. rose 23.6 % to 162,067 vehicles — a record high for a single month. That exceeded the previous monthly record of 161,067 set in March.
