Japanese car maker Honda is looking to participate in the new global parts exchange Covisint, writes the UK’s Financial Times (22/11/00).

Quoting Honda Chairman Yoshihide Munekuni, the FT says that the company could join the online purchasing system – set up by car giants GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler – to acquire certain parts.

Mr Munekuni was also quoted as saying that the company is discussing with General Motors to join its e-commerce procurement on a limited basis only.

These talks follow-on from the Japanese auto-maker’s decision to explore engine development jointly with GM. This venture is expected to create a new line of V6 petrol engines from 2003, says the article.
