Only two of five major Japanese car makers experienced a rise in domestic sales
from a year earlier in the first half of 2001, according to data released Tuesday,
Kyodo News reported.

Domestic sales of Nissan Motor during the six-month period grew 1.9% to 395,889
units, while those of Honda Motor gained 12.9% to 424,205 units, the report
said.
