Honda may delay the launch of its clean diesel cars in Japan and the US, a company official was quoted saying today.

A Honda spokesman told Reuters the launch may be deferred beyond 2009 because rising diesel prices compared with petrol and weaker vehicle demand meant consumers would not benefit from a roll out in the next 12 months.
“We have to proceed cautiously in this environment,” the spokesman said.
He added, however, that no official decision had been made to delay the launch.
