Honda expects its global car production to rise by as much as 8% in the 2010 financial year starting next month. This will be spurred by demand in Asia, the Nikkan Kogyo industrial daily reported on Monday.

Honda has told its main parts suppliers that it plans to produce 3.2 to 3.3m cars in the 2010 financial year which would represent an increase of between 3-8% from an estimated 3.05 – 3.1m  cars this year, the paper said.

Honda refused to comment on its production plans.

The strong yen means Honda will boost production in overseas Asian markets rather than Japan with output in China rising 10% while falling in North America and Europe, the newspaper said without naming its sources.
