Honda Motor plans to use Indian steel sheet for the first time to lower costs when it starts making its new small car line in India next year, the Nikkei business daily reported today (5 January).
Honda plans to procure most of the steel sheet for the new subcompact for emerging markets from multiple suppliers, including Tata Steel, the Nikkei said.
The Indian steel sheet is 20-30% cheaper than similar sheet made in Japan, the paper added.
