Honda’s redesigned Accord beat its monthly sales target by 1,000 units in its first three weeks on sale in Japan, reports said.

Dealers took 6,000 orders for a car targeted at 5,000 sales a month when launched on October 11.

The Japanese-market Honda is narrower with different styling than the model sold in the US. Sales of the ‘narrow’ Accord start in Europe early in 2003.

Honda cut its full-year profit forecast last month but wants to sell about 400,000 Accords a year worldwide, building the model in seven countries and selling in 140.
